Hypnotherapy For Weight Loss

Let’s face it- for most Americans, weight reduction can be a very difficult and continuous process. It doesn’t help that there is an avalanche of information on the subject and claims made by nearly every diet company that their product or plan is the most effective and we’ve all learned by trial and error that simply isn’t true of 99% of those products.   The two instructions that they all have in common seem to be the hardest directions for most dieters to follow: eat healthy food and exercise often. If it were just a matter of cutting calories and working out at the gym, obesity would not be the huge problem it is today. There is something much larger winning this battle within us that cannot be defeated by counting grapes or popping a pill. At least, not for long. While there is no doubt that proper diet and exercise are critically important to successful weight management, there’s a much larger component missing in the “battle of the bulge” that is the single most important factor determining your size today…and no one seems to be talking about it. So, what is this formidable obstacle that causes millions of Americans to endure months and sometimes years of weight management tactics and has secured billions of dollars for the weight loss industry? The Human Mind. Or, more specifically, the subconscious portion of the human mind. Most physicians, psychologists and scientists agree that the human mind is divided into two “parts”: the conscious mind and the subconscious mind. The conscious mind is only responsible for about 10% of who you are... read more

The list of hypnotherapy fans is long in Hollywood and includes people like Oprah, Ellen Degeneres, Matt Damon, Fergie, Kevin Costner, Ashton Kutcher, Orlando Bloom, Drew Barrymore and Charlize Theron- just to name a few.. Stuck in a Rut? 3 Ways to Un-stick Yourself…FAST

Often, my clients will come to me and say things like, “I feel like I’m stuck” or “I’m in a rut and I just can’t get out of it” or “I feel like I don’t have a choice, I have to….” When I hear these kinds of statements, I know that we have to dig deeper to find out what the thought or belief is, behind the statement,  that is causing these types of feelings. What I’ve found is that:  99% of the time, it’s caused by black and white or “all or nothing” thinking. Instead of looking at a situation and seeing ALL of the possibilities, ideas or options, we get stuck thinking in terms of either / or. This or that. Yes or no. Good or bad. When we do this, we limit our possibilities. Over time, this way of thinking becomes a habit and suddenly our subconscious takes notice. This causes us to feel uncomfortable, stunted, limited and yes…STUCK. We are spiritual beings. We’re meant to experience life in all ways. From experiencing success and great joy to falling down, making mistakes and experiencing great sorrow. When we limit those experiences or even worse, keep ourselves in a negative state, never choosing to experience the other side of life, it dampens the soul and life begins to feel more like a prison. For example, if someone is struggling with their job or career choice, they might think:  “I hate this job. I have to get a new job” or “I’m not happy with this job but I have no choice. I just have to suck it... read more

Calm an Overwhelmed Body & Mind

Calm an Overwhelmed Body & Mind Would you like to LISTEN to this blog? If you’re like me, life has you running in a hundred different directions every day. Between career, family and scheduled activities, there is little time to slow down and take the valuable “me time” that each of us needs to keep a sane, healthy outlook on our lives. There are those among us who believe they can keep running at this pace indefinitely. They are convinced that they “thrive” on the busy-ness and may even claim that they like it. While that’s a great mindset to have in order to mentally get through each day, the truth is that this mindset is only a “coping mechanism” for an over-stressed living environment. The body cannot sustain this state. In fact, if this state is sustained too long, it will begin to break down valuable processes and organs in the body. Because we don’t SEE this breakdown happening we're often completely unaware of it until it’s too late. We continue our busy schedules without much thought about what this stressful lifestyle is doing to our physical, emotional and mental health. It doesn’t have to be this way. There’s a simple fix that everyone can utilize that can keep you calm, focused and relaxed. Even if you’re life resembles a three-ring circus. The solution is 10-30 minutes of inner reflection. I know what you’re thinking; “30 minutes!? If I had 30 minutes, I wouldn’t have this problem!” The reality is that we all, no matter what our schedule looks like on paper, have even more than 30 minutes... read more

What IS Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is the practice of promoting positive development or healing, in any way, through the use of hypnotic suggestion.  The goal of Hypnotherapy is to reprogram specific patterns and negative behaviors within the mind, enabling irrational fears or phobias, negative thoughts, extreme emotion and past trauma to be overcome. There is significant evidence that demonstrates that hypnotherapy can have a positive effect on healing and pain control as well. Within science, there is no debate as to whether hypnosis exists or works.  The debate, it seems, is due to scientists not being able to agree on exactly “what” hypnotherapy is and “how” it works so well. Hypnosis is thought to work by altering our state of consciousness. Most scientists and psychologists agree that our minds are essentially divided into two parts: the conscious mind and the subconscious mind. The conscious mind is that part of our minds where our short-term memory, reasoning, our current thoughts and our desires are seated. In addition, the conscious mind is where our short-term memory and will power stems. The subconscious mind, however, is the true workhorse of the brain. The subconscious is responsible for our long term memory, recording every detail of each and every moment of our lives. This includes: every emotion, experience, thought and belief. It also controls our autonomic systems including: breathing, sweating, heart rhythm, hormones etc. It is through the subconscious, that the neurological map of the mind is formed. This map is where connections are made as we learn and grow throughout our lives. The neuro-map is made objectively by the subconscious, storing all information whether positive or... read more
